Our Savior Lutheran School have several programs online.  We have recently implemented the following programs:

Accelerated Reader - We are building a reading culture throughout our school making reading practice more effective for K through 8th grade.  Our aim is to build a life long love of reading and learning by implementing the following through Accelerated Reader:

*   Make essential reading practice more effective for every student

*   Personalize "read me" activities - read to, read with, and read independently

*   Assess students' reading with four types of quizzes: reading practice, vocabulary  

     practice, literacy practice and textbook quizzes

Thank you to all the parents who are picking up boxes of books to register for AR quizzes!  We are well on our way to having another great program started at Our Savior!

Rosetta Stone Spanish Program - We are excited to have introduced Rosetta Stone Spanish language studies to Our Savior Lutheran School.  This is a computer based program creating an interactive learning environment.  We want to bring the very best language-learning curriculum to our students and this program is available to all of our 3rd grade through 8th grade students.  Rosetta Stone coincides with our Spanish classroom curriculum, which is taught to all grades.

Midde School Laptop Program - The idea of initiating a laptop program was first raised in June 2010.  After careful consideration, Mrs. Nicklas launched the middle school laptop program in the fall of 2010.  The program included 6/7/8th grade students being allowed to bring their own laptops to school for use in the classroom.  

The decision to make 6th grade the entry point for laptops took into account laptop weight, student maturity, class growth, and instructional and curriculum possibilties.  At present, all OSL middle school students have this privilege.  All student are given in depth instructional classes by our technology teacher, on how to use and maintain their computers.  This program has been a success as students are using their laptops to engage in a wide variety of activities - from collaborative research and writing projects for their history and language arts classes, to science demonstrations and simulations, to world language exercises.
