2011 marks the 50th Anniversary of Our Savior Lutheran Church and School in Plantation, Florida. Our Savior faithfully served Jesus through the school and church ministries by working in the community and by equipping her members to serve, using their gifts and opportunities to God;s glory.
In 2009 Our Savior made an even greater commitment to the community - whether that community is Plantation or a country across the globe. A new vision statement was adopted that encompasses the role of the church today: "Serving Christ, Serving Others Changing Lives"
Our members are mentors, classroom aids, and clerical volunteers at Mirror Lake Elementary School. Our music program proclaims God's love through its children's choirs at Manor Care Nursing Home and Covenant Village. We perform holiday concerts at Christmas at Las Olas, Westfield Mall, and Temple Kol Ami-Emanu-El. Adults and middle school students prepare and serve food, and stock shelves at Life Net 4 Families. Small group ministries collect gift box items for troops overseas and crochet prayer shawls for those in spiritual need. Our school fills shoe boxes of gift items for "Operation Christmas Child" with Samaritans' Purse, and collects pet food for the Broward Country Humane Society. School supplies are collected through Vacation Bible School, and Lutheran World Relief is supported whenever there is a natural disaster, leaving people in need of basic necessities wrapped in the love of Jesus. There is a great amount of work for all of us to do. As we celebrate the past 50 years, we look to the future and how we can be of service to our Lord Jesus!
