We kick of the school year with one of our youth's favorite activities...a Lock-in! There is one for our Middle School youth and one for our High School youth. The night is filled with fun, food, fellowship, and Bible study. Throughout the year, we host a variety of family friendly activities such as ice skating, bowling, Boomers, mall scavenger hunts, trips to the beach, and so much more! Come be a part of the fun. Sunday School
Children 3 years old through 5th grade meet in the church at 9:30am for a special children's message before they are dismissed to grow through FaithWeaver. During the summer months our kids grow strong with a Sunday helping of VeggieTales.
Small Groups and Confirmation
Our youth 6th-12th grade enjoy Small Groups where they grow and learn together. We currently meet every Wednesday from 6:30-7:30pm in the Youth Room.
At Our Savior Lutheran, Confirmation classes are a chance for youth to claim their faith as their own, confirming the promise their parents made for them the day they were baptized. Confirmation is a two year commitment beginning in 7th grade. Lessons begin in late September/early October and meet each Thursday from 6:30-7:30pm. Students serve as acolytes in our traditional worship services while they go through their Confirmation lessons.
If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please contact Mrs. Heather Bleier in the church office.
Service
Every second Sunday, we serve our community at LifeNet4Families. At 8:00am, we meet in the kitchen to make sandwiches, sort through clothing other donated items, and put together care bags. Sunday School children are more than welcome to help make sandwiches as long as parents accompany them. After worshiping together during the 9:30am service, we pack up all of our goodies and head out to LifeNet4Families. We usually spend about an hour handing out everything we've collected to men and women who are standing in line for food. Afterward, we fellowship together; usually at FiveGuys in the Fountain Plaza. During the week, we take a small group of school students to help stock shelves. We'd love for you to join us!
Youth Trips
There are two retreats during the school year:
Middle School: Each November, we travel to our District Middle School Gathering. This has been one of the trips our middle school youth have looked forward to each and every year. Don't miss out! Cost has been between $120-$140 each year.
High School: Their District Gathering occurs the first weekend in March. Cost has been between $120-$140 each year.
We have a three year rotation for our summer trips:
Year One: The National Lutheran Youth Gathering is for high school youth only. There is nothing quiet like being surrounded by over 20,000 screaming high school youth who share the same faith in Jesus Christ! Enjoy five days of growing together through music, service, Bible study, and more fun than you can handle! This trip usually costs between $1,000-$1,500 per person depending on where the gathering is held and travel costs.
Year Two: Our mission trips are open to all youth in 6th-12th grade. We do a mission trip with either our District or through Group Workcamps and they cost between $400-$500.
Year Three: trips to Coker Creek Village are open to all youth in 6th-12th grade. we have an amazing time together with high adventure activities such as white water rafting, mountain biking, horseback riding, zip lining, rock climbing, and Bible studies that will change your life! Cost is about $500 per person.
